Summer Aspirations

June 12, 2014

She’s back, folks! After a looong hiatus involving a new job, and an epic move to a new apartment, here I am again.  I still have unpacking to do, even though I moved almost seven months ago, which is absurd and typical.  I blame my compulsive need to spend countless hours on home-improvement projects.  I have exceeded […]

It’s That Time of Year Again!

September 30, 2013

Listen up, peeps!  It has been two years since I experienced the first bloom on my Night-Blooming Cereus plant (yes it is an experience).  Last year I had several more on the same plant (the 3rd propogation from my first plant), and a few on my original plant (propogated from the plant of a great friend’s […]

New Arrangement

Picked these beauties up at the farmers’ market on Saturday!  I love these colors together!

How Happy Are Your Herbs?

August 19, 2013

After trying several different recommendations on how to store fresh herbs like dill, cilantro, parsley, mint and basil in the fridge, by far the best luck I have had, is with this method: trim the ends of the bunch, like you would a bouquet of flowers (DO NOT wash herbs until ready to use – and then […]

Happy Birthday to Me!

August 17, 2013

Well, it isn’t my birthday, but it feels like it!  I ordered a set of the Bombay Sapphire Rocks Glasses by Bottlehead (pictured above) a few weeks ago, and I got them today!  I went right out and got some Bombay Sapphire Gin, limes, and tonic water, so I could christen my new babies immediately. […]

‘Mission’ Accomplished

August 7, 2013

It’s been a  very  long time since I’ve been in the mood to post.  Maybe it’s the nice weather, the fact that I am engaged in a 9-5 work-like activity again (and therefore less scatterbrained), or perhaps it was fabulous company of my brooklynite girly pals the other night, but here I am! After about a year of scheduling […]

Jonathan Kingham and Glen Phillips at Joe’s Pub

March 3, 2012

I’m ashamed of myself that last night was the first time I’ve ever been to   Joe’s Pub  after having lived in the city for over six years.  I have clearly been overlooking an entertainment gem.  Those of you who have been for a concert, know what a comfortable, intimate, and accoustically gorgeous venue it is.  Granted, […]

Samuel Smith’s Organic Raspberry Ale

February 7, 2012

For those of us that don’t appreciate the taste of beer, but love a nice bottle of fruity Belgian Lambic (like  Lindemans), try  Samuel Smith’s Raspberry Ale.  It is as palatable as the Belgian Lambic, but not quite as sweet and has a little more “beer” taste (but not too much).
