I have been frequenting my favorite happy hour place in the village a little more than usual lately, to get a good dose of holiday cheer (and yummy cocktails). Five Points at 31 Great Jones Street in Manhattan, has a delicious selection of $5 drinks and $6 small plate options from 5 PM – 7 PM, Monday – Friday. I love this place and appreciate the festive decor, since I don’t have the space for a tree of my own! My very favorite happy hour cocktail is the the Citrus-Herb Martini. Depending on who is tending bar, this drink may vary from more citrusy to herby, but is delicious in general and has led to some pretty infamous nights. Let’s just say that three of these is one too many! The Lavender Gimlet is another gem, and a little less sweet. As for the “Little Bites,” I love the Mashed Chick Pea Bruschetta, with Paprika and Goat Cheese, and the Niman Ranch Sirloin Steak Skewers. For $16, the Potato Pizza, with sliced Yukon gold potatoes, fontina cheese, and white truffle oil is not to be missed. At the very least, order a cocktail and try the freshly made potato chips at the bar. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely give this place a try – I highly recommend it!
