Sooo, I’ve gone a little nuts on The Veranda this season. I’ve implemented some anti-squirrel tactics (read chicken-wire fortress), which is still in the works, but I’m feeling very hopeful that I WILL WIN this year. My mother was even kind enough to send me a bag of dog hair in the mail to place around the base of some of the plants where needed. I only wish I had known it was coming and not opened it in the house (in fairness she clearly wrote DO NOT OPEN INSIDE on the other side of the bag). I will be creating some slim cages around the tomato plants this weekend. So, here’s what I’ve got going so far:
Sage and Oregano
Peppermint (returning from last year)
English Lavender, Rosemary, French Lavender
Thai Basil, Sweet Basil, Thyme
Zucchini, Eggplant, Zucchini
Bell Pepper, Brandywine Heirloom Tomato, Big Rainbow Heirloom Tomato, and an Heirloom Variety whose name is completely escaping me now…
