So, it appears the squirrels know what’s up on The Veranda. I was fairly sure this would happen, but kept hoping they would stick to the flourishing community garden down below and leave my little patch alone. Foolish me.
I was able to save one of the male flowers on my other zucchini plant, only partially eaten (I scared the squirrel away, but I’m sure he is already back), so that I will be able to manually pollinate the female flowers when they bloom. I assume it will last until then in water, but perhaps not. I guess I’ll see how the flower is doing when I get back home tonight.
