Listen up, peeps! It has been two years since I experienced the first bloom on my Night-Blooming Cereus plant (yes it is an experience). Last year I had several more on the same plant (the 3rd propogation from my first plant), and a few on my original plant (propogated from the plant of a great friend’s dad in Putney, VT).
THIS YEAR THERE ARE 12 BUDS!
Twwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeee!
Ten on the 3rd propogation, and two on the original (which already had an earlier secret bloom, that I didn’t even know about until I smelled the beautiful perfume of the one-night-only opening and discoverd it). Not a whole lot happening on the old 2nd propogation. Must be the runt.
So friggin’ excited. If it weren’t for the fact that that the plants are squished up against my bedroom windows, and relatively inaccessible, I would totally be having a viewing party. Also, it would probably be a good idea for me to be more explicitly sure when the bloom will happen, since it would be pretty anticlimactic to invite everyone over, pop the champagne, and have nothing happen (“oops, it must be tomorrow!”). Anyhoots, I am EXCITED.
Below are a couple pics of one of the buds. You can see a few others in the background. Yipppeeeee!
