Last night, I went to Tree Bistro, located a 190 1st ave (between 11th and 12th Sts.) with a Bloomspot coupon ($20 for $40 worth of food and drink). Overall, the experience was great. I loved the atmosphere and our waiter (who may have been one of the owners) was perfect. We ordered two glasses of wine, and had a nice seat at a large table by the front window. They have a heated garden at the back, and plenty of seating available at the bar as well.
We started with the Duck Prosciutto with fresh apple which, incidentally, did not come with fresh apple. Instead, it was served with thin slices of a hard cheese (possibly Parmesan) and toasted slices of French bread. If eaten together, it was far too salty. I think the bread was salted, which may have been the culprit (maybe the fresh apple would have helped here). The Duck Prosciutto on its own was delicious, however.
We then ordered the Tree Burger with Parmesan truffle fries. The burger was delicious, but the fries would have been better with either shaved, fresh Parsmesan, or with no Parmesan at all. The dousing of grated Parmesan that came on the fries made them just taste dusty, unfortunately.
Pictured at the top is the Roasted Salmon lemon dill aioli, red onion, daikon slaw on Israeli couscous. It was incredibly delicious. We took a long time to eat, and were never rushed, even though the place was packed. I would easily go back here for drink or dinner again. It seemed to have a very nice, neighborhood feel to it, and the brief history they give you of the Irish owners on the dessert menu is a nice touch.
