Today is the day I finally got to try Shake Shack. Went to the Brooklyn location (409 Fulton Street ) with a friend for a quick bite this afternoon. Fortunately there were nowhere near as many patrons as I normally see queuing up at some of the other locations. We each got a Shackburger (with raw onions added) and shared some fries. So here is my take – I thought the burger was pretty tasty (with the exception of some gristly bits, which my friend’s didn’t seem to have) and the fries were crispy and well salted. Granted, I did not try the frozen custard or even a shake, but I can tell you that – while I would easily eat here again (and again) – I would definitely never stand in the kind of lines I see there on a regular basis. These are by no means the best burgers I have ever had, but rather a much more natural version of a McDonald’s cheeseburger (and, health-consciousness aside, I could eat a million of those). My favorite part of this experience – the buzzer they give you when you order, so that you are able to go find a table and settle in, rather than standing and waiting for your food to be ready. I imagine this idea was born out of a need for crowd control at the busier locations, but it is definitely a perk. Overall, I would recommend giving Shake Shack a try.
